Hopefully, parents (and their children as assistants) will be inspired and confident to lead a nursery rhyme during circle time in addition to bonding through play at home. We invite parents to borrow 1 felt frame and 2-3 different puppet sets at a time to enjoy and practice with their little one. We have 10 mini puppet sets and 5 felt frames. These felt boards are the perfect size for leading rhymes during virtual circle times, and also can be used at our IRL playgroups. So, during our spring 2020 hiatus, one of the parent volunteers prepared some kits for hosts and converted A5 size photo frames into felt boards to use with the nursery rhyme sets. The nursery rhyme sets came with a felt glove, but that unfortunately did not age well. ![]() Likely imported in the early 2000s, they are beautiful and special and can surely bring some smiles to circle time. The group continues to grow and change to reflect the needs and interests of participating families.ĭuring the renewal, these fabulous felt nursery rhyme sets in perfect condition were rediscovered. By 2018, the group experienced a renewal and the bulk of toys, games and miscellaneous supplies were replaced with equipment which included low tables, high chairs, carpets and a coffee cart to add comfort for attending families. The next group of families valued pretend play, and costumes and toys were acquired. A few years later, creativity took center stage, and smocks and crafting supplies abounded. ![]() That was followed by a focus on active play, and a mini trampoline, vehicle-shaped tents, hula hoops, bean bag games and goal posts were wedged among the shelves. In the early 2000s, the group composed a curriculum, and materials reflected thematic units for learning. ![]() Always relevant, playgroup addresses the needs and interests of internationally-minded families in Tokyo.
